Description
75 York Road, adjacent to Waterloo Station in London, is a major refurbishment including extensions to the office floor plates and an additional residential floor. The existing building sat awkwardly within its local context and failed to address the specific attributes of the site.
An existing 2 storey podium extension has been replaced with a new 5 storey base providing a more sympathetic resolution to the corner and a more cohesive integration with the tower above. The design of the cladding juxtaposes finely proportioned unitized glazed cladding panels, incorporating black anodized aluminium spandrels and frames. Floor to ceiling window elements create a strong contrast to the smooth white and dark grey render of the building’s solid surfaces.
