Tower Bridge Court

London
2017

Located in a prominent location along Tower Bridge Road, the site is a crucial component of the Tower Bridge Conservation area, which is dominated by Tower Bridge, one of the nation’s most important landmarks.
Southwark Council has identified the approach to the Bridge from the Southwark side as “disappointing” because of the poor quality of development in the northern section of Tower Bridge Road including Tower Bridge Court, and the building’s redevelopment provides the opportunity to improve the setting of Tower Bridge, the other listed buildings in the vicinity and the conservation area more generally.

The proposals aim to set out strategies that will lead to agreeing a land use mix that supports a sustainable community within the conservation area, agreeing new patterns of permeability across the site that serve local and wider pedestrian movement demands, and reinforcing the provision of public space in an area of high activity and increasing pressure on existing provision
These strategies aim to create the basis of a vibrant, mixed-use urban development with scale, grain, and character that enhances the conservation area and makes a positive contribution to this unique area of London.
